How to Connect to Remote Server via Internet before 3.80 Version?

EfficientPIM is suitable not only for LAN but also for WAN users. If you still want to connect to server when you are at home, on business, or even in a branch company and so on. Please refer to the guide below.

Server

  1. Please install EfficientPIM Server at: http://www.efficientdownload.com/es/EfficientPIMNetwork-Setup.exe
  2. (Note: For users who are not on dial-up, please go to Step 5 directly.) Set properties of network connection. Open Control Panel and click Network and Internet -> Network Connections. And then right-click Local Area Connection -> Properties, and select Internet Protocal Versions 4 (TCP/IPv4), then click Properties button to choose Use the following IP Address, and input the IP Address of this server computer in your LAN. Such as 192.168.1.101.
  3. Then enter the interface of router setting. For example, you can browse 192.168.1.1 if you are using TP-LINK.
  4. After you enter it, please click Forwarding -> DMZ. And then set Current DMZ Status as Enable and input DMZ Host IP Address of this server computer in your LAN. Such as 192.168.1.101.
  5. After this, please search IP by Google and it will show you your IP address on Internet. Please send this IP to the ones who want to connect to server through Internet.
  6. Start EfficientPIM and click New File on Toolbar to create a file to share your information. (Generally, the directory of the file when you first use this software is "C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\My Documents\My Information.effw"). And then please click File -> Close and click Connect to Server button in the dialog box.
  7. Please input the related information in the interface:
    Server: localhost (or server's host name)
    Database file: the directory of the shared file which you set just now
    Username: SYSDBA (default system administrator)
    Password: masterkey (default system administrator password)

  8. After you connect to server, you can click File -> Users to manage your group members. When the number of authorized user is full, the Add button will be disabled. If you want to add a new user, please Purchase another license on our official website. And then click Registration Codes button to input it and to add again.

Clients

  1. Please download and install EfficientPIM (EfficientPIM-Setup.exe) on each client computer that needs to access shared data.
  2. Start EfficientPIM and click command File -> Connect to Server.
  3. Please input the related information that the administrator has set for you in the interface:
    Server: the server's IP address on the Internet (Note: just as 15.100.80.88, not 192.168.1.xxx)
    Database file: the directory that the administrator has set for you
    Username: the user name that the administrator has set for you
    Password: the password that the administrator has set for you

  4. Now you can connect to the data file on the server and share data with other users.
